Infiniti Mobile is an eligible telecommunication carrier (ETC) for Lifeline phone program here in the US. In the program, the cellular provider has partnered with the government to give eligible consumers a free phone. But now, is the Infiniti Mobile free government phone worth it?

In my opinion, the Infiniti Mobile phone program is definitely a good deal if you can’t afford the regular prepaid or postpaid service. I am sure some people will disagree with me on this. But the company gives away a one-time smartphone and up to unlimited talk minutes, text, and data for FREE per month.

Any chance you knew about Infiniti Mobile free phone program before today? In truth, the cell phone provider, despite being in operation for over a decade now, isn’t the most famous. However, the low popularity has a lot to do with the small footprint of the ETC in the country.

As KonaTel was acquiring Infiniti Mobile in 2019, only seven states had access to the Lifeline program. Over the later years, the new parent company has helped expand the program to more states.

Sadly, Infiniti Mobile still offers the Lifeline program in fewer regions than competitors like AirTalk Wireless free phone. But unlike AirTalk, Infiniti offers its cellular service through the three major networks- Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile. Thus, has at least one signal in all parts of the country.

In the few areas without native coverage, Infiniti Mobile includes domestic roaming at no cost. It doesn’t cover international roaming, though.

More on that, continue reading the full features and perks of the Infiniti Mobile free phone program below.

The Best Features & Perks of the Infiniti Mobile Free Phone from Government

· Limited Availability

The Infiniti free phone from the government is available in two different programs: Lifeline and ACP program. Lifeline is the oldest free phone program, dating as back as the 80s, and it’s also permanent.

As I’ve just mentioned, Infiniti Mobile has a free phone offer with Lifeline in only select regions. The Infiniti map of areas served currently has Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Vermont, Wisconsin, Maryland, Nevada, Georgia, California, Kentucky, Missouri, Colorado, Tennesse, West Virginia, and New York.

As for the free phone with the affordable connectivity program (ACP), Infiniti Mobile has a license to operate nationwide. But, unfortunately, the ACP program was a temporary broadband benefit aimed at helping low-income consumers afford internet connectivity.

In a recent update, the FCC has announced April 2024 will be the last month of the Affordable Connectivity Program. It seems the “bipartisan Affordable Connectivity Program Extension Act” introduced in Congress for an additional $7 billion in funding didn’t come to pass.

· Simple Eligibility Requirements

Infiniti Mobile free phone from the government is available to all US citizens to apply. However, only the citizens from low-income families who apply for the program qualify. The various ways to qualify for the program are:

  1. Headstart government assistance Benefit
  2. Medicaid government assistance Benefit
  3. Veteran’s Pension and Survivors Pension Assistance Benefit
  4. A low income at or below 135% of federal poverty guidelines
  5. Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA) or Section 8 Benefit
  6. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) government assistance Benefit
  7. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Food Stamps
  8. Tribal-based assistance benefits, such as the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance (BIA), Tribally Administered Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TATNF), etc.

Note:

Like other eligible telecommunication carriers (ETCs), Infiniti Mobile has not been accepting new ACP enrollments since February 2024. They only accepted enrollments for already enrolled consumers who wished to transfer their ACP benefits to Infiniti.

But again, the FCC has announced April as the last month of full funding for the ACP program. So, it’s certainly late to make the switch- unless Congress decides to provide additional funding.

If the ACP program will last longer than April and decide to transfer to Infiniti Mobile, you can also qualify with:

  • School Breakfast/ lunch program
  • Students Federal Pell Grant in current award year
  • Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
  • A low gross income at or less than 200% of the current federal poverty guidelines

· Great Network Coverage

Which network works best in your location or for your needs? Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile?

Infiniti Mobile is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), which means it resells the network of a major carrier. At the time of writing, the Major Carrier Infiniti has partnered with to resell their service are Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile.

As such, you can get an Infiniti Mobile signal nationwide. But like when the old Safelink Wireless free phone had three underlying networks, Infiniti can only use one carrier network at a time.

If Verizon is the best network in your area, you’ll need a Verizon-compatible Infiniti Mobile SIM card. Then, you need a T-Mobile-compatible Infiniti SIM card in the T-Mobile region and AT&T-compatible SIM for areas of AT&T.

Infiniti Mobile currently offers the free Lifeline phone service on only 4G LTE (no 5G access). So, a Verizon-compatible SIM card will have the best coverage, including all major cities and most rural areas.

· Free Domestic Roaming

Again, your Infiniti Mobile free phone can’t connect to all its three underlying networks at the same time. You will have to choose a SIM card that connects to either T-Mobile, Verizon, or AT&T.

What this means is that you’ll always have areas with weak or no native signal on your Infiniti Mobile phone. But it has free domestic roaming that allows you to use your phone when outside the native coverage network.

After hours of research, I still wasn’t able to find details on the roaming partners of Infiniti Mobile. The company also doesn’t mention the cap they have on talk minutes or data allowances. They only say “Data services and certain calling features may not be available in all roaming areas”.

· Infiniti Mobile Free Phone Service Plans

When you apply Infiniti Mobile free phone program, you’ll get a prompt to choose your desired service plan. The service plan you choose can be for the Lifeline-only, ACP program, or Lifeline + ACP combo bundle.

How much talk minutes and data allowance Infiniti will give you on either of these plans depends on location. For instance,  Oklahoma has an option to choose the Lifeline free phone plan, which includes:

  • An Android smartphone
  • 4.5GB or 6GB of high-speed browsing
  • 3,000 talk minutes (domestic use only)
  • Unlimited text messages (domestic use only)

The 3,000 talk allowance here (with the Lifeline program) is not as much as with the Lifeline + ACP program combo. But it’s more than enough for most people. And even when the minutes get depleted, text messages have unlimited allowance.

As for the data speed allotment, the 4.5GB Infiniti Mobile offers is on a hard stop. Thus, you won’t be able to perform any data service after hitting your monthly limit.

Other features you get to enjoy with your free Infiniti Mobile phone from the government include :

  1. Caller ID
  2. Voicemail
  3. Call Waiting
  4. Free calls to 911
  5. 3 Way Calling function
  6. Text & Picture Messaging

What Kind of Free Smartphone Does Infiniti Mobile Give You

If eligible for the Infiniti Mobile free phone program, you get a one-time smartphone and monthly service. Like most ETCs, the company website doesn’t say the device they send for the one-time smartphone discount.

However, I was able to chat with an Infiniti Mobile customer rep, Jeremy, through the online chat feature. According to Jeremy, the kind of free smartphone Infiniti Mobile gives you is a NUU or BLU Android model. He didn’t provide other specifics about the device.

Key Takeaway: Infiniti Mobile Free Phone Support

Infiniti Mobile’s free phone program has one of the best support teams. In my test yesterday, I connected with a customer agent, Jeremy, on the online chat in less than a minute.

Jeremy was also very professional, friendly, and helpful, which is why I believe he’s here in the US. (Many Lifeline providers have their support team outside the US- mostly from Asian countries like the Philippines and India).

Regardless, I will recommend engaging with Infiniti Mobile customer care during their advertised official hours. The advertised official hours are 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. CST on Monday through Friday and 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. CST on weekends.

Note: Apart from online chat, you can contact the Infiniti Mobile support team by calling 888-801-0012 or emailing support@infinitimobile.com. The company is also available on social media, including Facebook and LinkedIn.

Add-On Plans for the Infiniti Mobile Free Phone

In a nutshell, that’s everything relevant you should know about the Infiniti Mobile free government phone program. The program is the Lifeline offer that has been bringing low-income households discount phone service since 1985. However, some existing customers have been combining the Lifeline benefit with COVID-19’s ACP program for a combo plan with unlimited talk, text, and data.

Now that the ACP program is winding down, you will be able to apply for Infiniti Mobile free phone service with the Lifeline only. And that gives you at least 1000 – unlimited talk minutes and 1GB – 6GB data, depending on the state.

If you happen to finish your talk or data allowance early, Infiniti Mobile has add-on plans from as low as $10 to $30. The carrier also has an affordable prepaid phone service from $14 if you no longer qualify for the Lifeline program.
