Entouch Wireless is yet another of the lifeline providers with free touch screen government phones. But is any of the devices they give you good? And if not, what phones work with Entouch Wireless that I can use with my SIM card?

Well, if we’re to be fair, any “Free phone” from lifeline carriers is good when given. The device, yes, might be below your expectations. But many who couldn’t afford one like it, especially with the current hardships, are contented.

In our case, the kind of phone Entouch Wireless gives you is a 5.5” Sky Devices model (Elite H55 at the moment). You may get a different equivalent brand if this particular model is out of stock.

Now, when you google the specs of this Sky Devices phone, it’s very lacking in crucial specs. Let’s say performance, it has a 1.4GHz processor, 1GB RAM, and only 16GB ROM (internal memory).

If looking for a free cell phone for seniors, these features may be okay since most use the service for just calls. But we can’t say the same for a young person who loves to game, use social media, and browse a lot.

Entouch Wireless Supports BYOD!

If you don’t qualify for a free smartphone (likely with a lifeline-only plan), Entounch Wireless only sends a SIM card kit. And this means you’ll have to apply through the BYOD (bring your own device) approach.

Alternatively, the BYOD option is effective when you want to upgrade to a device with latest or more decent features. It can also be useful when you need a replacement Entouch Wireless phone after the previous one is lost/ stolen/ damaged.

But before proceeding here, you should refresh on what phones work with Entouch Wireless, as not all do. The lifeline operator is actually a little harsher on compatibility rules than the likes of Easy Wireless.

Crucial Points When Looking for Phones Compatible with Entouch Wireless

When looking for a phone to use with Entouch Wireless, you should Know:

  1. Entouch Wireless is an MVNO of Verizon:

Performance-wise, this is a good thing as Verizon has the best LTE coverage, including in rural areas. However, it also means the phone you bring to the lifeline program must have Verizon cellular frequencies. And when looking at the phones compatible with Spectrum Mobile (a prepaid MVNO of Verizon), we concluded these cellular frequencies are bands 2, 4, 5*, 13*, and 66 for LTE. Then bands N2**, N5**, N6**, N77***, N260, and N261 for 5G.

  • Entouch Wireless throttles the unlimited data:

The ACP + Lifeline combo plan here has lower allowances than you get with SafeLink or Qlink. It starts with 10GB of high-speed data, then 2G speeds thereafter.

  • Entouch Wireless suffers deprioritization:

What this means is that your phone will experience a significant drop in data speeds when the Verizon towers are busy. However, 5G phones are still usable during this period since the speeds will be super-fast before deprioritization happens.

  • Entouch Wireless supports domestic roaming:

Unlike T-Mobile, Verizon does share domestic roaming privileges with its MVNOs. So, your Entouch Wireless may continue to work when outside the native coverage.

  • Entouch Wireless offers free international calls:

The Lifeline + ACP combo plan offers not just unlimited local calling. You can also make international calls to Canada, Mexico, India, China, South Korea, Vietnam, and the UK free of charge.

  • Entouch Wireless sends carrier-locked phones:

Typically, this doesn’t affect your free monthly service in any way. However, it does mean you’ll have to wait at least 12 months before unlocking the Entouch Wireless device for other carriers.

FYI: * is the primary LTE band of Verizon, which offers extended-range range coverage (and penetrates through walls). ** is the low-band 5G and *** Sub6/mmWave (C-Band)

What Phones Work with Entouch Wireless

Like I’ve just said, the first thing to consider when looking for phones that work with Entouch Wireless is compatibility with the carrier network. The device you want to bring to the lifeline service must have at least one of the primary LTE bands 13 and 5.

Band 66 (and 4) is a high-capacity frequency, which brings you the fastest LTE speeds, albeit at a shorter range. It also does not penetrate through walls as well as the Primary (extended-range) signals.

Nonetheless, a 5G phone is what I’d recommend if you’re looking to upgrade. You will have working data service even during deprioritization (your data speed is slow due to network congestion).

But again, even with the right cellular bands, your BYOD phone may fail to work with the Entouch Wireless SIM card. What happens is that your device needs the right cellular technology to connect. And this means it should be either:

  • An Entouch Wireless-branded phone

In short, this is a phone that comes locked to Entouch Wireless service. You can either have received it directly from the lifeline operator (when you join or replace it) or purchased it on eBay.

A phone locked to Entouch Wireless usually has bloatware that allows it to work on an intended network with no fuss. However, you can only use the device on other carriers after Entouch unlocks, which requires at least one year since you activated it.

  • A Factory-unlocked phone

As the name, unlocked cell phones come directly from the manufacturer with no network restrictions. And since the device has never been linked to any carrier, you’ll have access to the full features the operator intended.

  • A carrier-unlocked phone

Yes, you can also use your Entouch Wireless service on a phone that was previously locked to another carrier. You just have to make sure the device has the appropriate network bands and is also fully unlocked.

A perfect example here is phones that were previously locked to Xfinity Mobile or Visible Wireless (and any other MVNO of Verizon).

However, you should know that carrier-unlocked phones may not work all features on other carriers. It usually happens if the provider of the locked device fails to unlock all of them.

  • A Verizon-branded phone

Naturally, MVNOs can work on phones of their carrier networks even before unlocking. Verizon is the carrier network of Entouch Wireless. Thus, you can use your lifeline service with some Verizon-locked devices.

Commonly Asked Questions:

What network does enTouch use?

The network Entouch Wireless use to offer its lifeline service is Verizon. If you want to take advantage of the BYOD program, this means your phone should have at least band 5 or 13 for LTE. Then bands N77, N260, or N261 and N2, N5, N6, or N66 for super-fast data speeds on 5G.

Who is the carrier for enTouch Wireless?

As I’ve just mentioned, the carrier for Entouch Wireless is Verizon. The MVNO has not only access to the carrier’s native coverage but also its roaming partners. So, you’ll have a working phone even in remote areas where MVNOs of T-Mobile tend to struggle.

How do I activate my wireless enTouch phone?

As you may know, Verizon used to use CDMA protocol that tied your service to the device you’ll be using. While LTE & 5G no longer follow these protocols, you still need to authenticate your phone with the SIM to make it usable. The rule also applies to the MVNOs using its (Verizon) towers.
So, to activate your wireless Entouch phone, you’ll have to power it on and wait for the initial setup to complete. Then call the customer care number 866-488-8719 to complete the process. The representative will ask for the ICCID of your lifeline SIM, thereby having it at hand.

Final Thoughts:

Well, that’s everything relevant you should know when looking for phones compatible with Entouch Wireless. Of course, many brands now work with almost all carriers since the LTE and 5G networks don’t rely on the GSM/ CDMA protocols. But you still have to watch out for the frequency bands and the cellular technology (factory-unlocked, carrier-unlocked, or Entouch Wireless-locked).

In the frequency bands part, I’m still going to recommend a phone with 5G if the idea was to upgrade. Even though the speeds are usually capped for lifeline providers, you’ll still have a decent data service when deprioritized (during congestion).
